It’s a wonder to think about all that has happened in the world from the time when our carousel first began to turn its magic. Just like longing to learn the history of one’s family, we are fascinated by the history of The Kit Carson County Carousel.
Will began his carousel restoration odyssey with the “Jewel of American Carousels”, the Kit Carson County Carousel in 1978. He led the idea of preserving carousels as “works of art”. His influence will live on in every treasure he helped restore, most certainly with PTC No. 6.
We would like to thank everybody for a great season! It was one to remember, but now that it is over, the Kit Carson County Carousel is preparing for a few long and restful naps over the coming months… And a few festivities in-between!
Remember that the Kit Carson County Carousel closes for the season soon. The last day the carousel will be open during regular hours to the public will be Labor Day. That being said, there is still a full week left of carousel fun, so make sure to get your last visits to the carousel in soon!
Every year, attendants of the Kit Carson County Fair vote for their favorite wooden animal. Last year, the armored horse received the title of "the grand champion of the year". This year, the armored horse passed down its ribbon to the tiger.
The Kit Carson County Carousel Museum is now celebrating its tenth season of being open. In case you haven't stopped by the museum before, there is plenty there to occupy anyone with fun, informative exhibits.
