Carousel Closes on Monday, September 5th

Still time for one last ride, visit to the museum, and chance to pick up the lastest photo/history booklet at the Hoofbeats gift shop.

The Kit Carson County Carousel will be closing for the season this upcoming Labor Day.  There is still time to come over to the fairgrounds to visit this national treasure and for just 25 cents take a ride on one of forty-six hand carved animals that date back to 1905.  While you are there, you can also take in a tour of our magical museum of sound, motion and light, with interpretive exhibits that help explain the “whys” and “hows” of the carousel’s existence.  Also closing on Labor Day is the Hoofbeats gift shop where you can purchase the “fourth” photo/history booklet produced by the Kit Carson County Carousel Association over the past three decades. This 26 page booklet tells the story of the carousel and depicts its many facets in a variety of splendid photos!  The last booklet was produced thirteen years ago…long before the museum was developed. Though the large coffee table book about the carousel is still the jewel of all of the publications in Hoofbeats, the Association always strives to have a less expensive souvenir booklet available for sale as well.  The carousel, museum and gift shop will be open daily from 11-6 through Labor Day.
