Kit Carson County Carousel Tour Guide 2026

General Statement of Duties:

Conducts tours, sells tickets and operates the Kit Carson County Carousel. Conducts tours and works in gift shop at Carousel Museum. Operates cash register and summarizes daily receipts.Cleans carousel, carousel building, museum and gift shop, restrooms, and ticket booth.

Supervision:

Works under the direction of the Carousel Manager.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. ​Sells tickets and souvenirs, conducts tours of carousel and museum

  2. ​Does daily inspection of ride, opens and closes and operates carousel

  3. ​Cleans carousel, carousel building, museum building, restrooms, and ticket booth

  4. ​Communicates and cooperates with daily coworkers to accomplish tasks for the day

  5. ​Makes supervisor aware of any problems or repairs that need attention or items that need ordered or replaced.

  6. ​Must be able to open and close carousel doors and be able to lift heavy objects.

  7. ​Attends training sessions as required

  8. ​Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to work cooperatively with supervisor and other staff; Ability to interact positively with the public and staff; Appreciation of historic preservation; Demonstrates outstanding hospitality skills; Must be self-motivated and able to work independently; Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely; Must be able to count money and make change correctly.

Education and Experience:

Must be working towards at least a high school diploma. Must be at least 16 to be employed.

Job Status:

This job is part time three to four days a week 10:30 to 6:30 from Memorial Day to Labor Day. If you are a student or teacher returning to school in late August or early September, you must still be able to work at least weekends through Labor Day.

Wages: 2026

$15.16 an hour starting wage

$15.66 an hour after one year of satisfactory work at the carousel

$16.16 an hour after two years of satisfactory work at the carousel

$16.66 an hour after three years of satisfactory work at the carousel

$17.16 an hour after four years of satisfactory work at the carousel

$17.66 an hour after five or more years of satisfactory work at the carousel
