Kit Carson County Carousel Tour Guide 2025

General Statement of Duties:

Conducts tours, sells tickets and operates the Kit Carson County Carousel. Conducts tours and works in gift shop at Carousel Museum. Operates cash register and summarizes daily receipts.

Supervision:

Works under the direction of the Carousel Supervisor or individual in charge for the day.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Sells tickets and souvenirs, conducts tours of carousel and museum

  2. Opens and closes and operates carousel Does daily inspection of ride

  3. Cleans Restrooms, museum building and carousel

  4. Makes Supervisor aware of any problems or repairs that need attention.

  5. Must be able to open and close Carousel doors and be able to lift heavy objects.

  6. Attends training sessions as required

  7. Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely; appreciation of historic preservation; must be self-motivated and able to work independently; ability to meet the public; must have outstanding hospitality skills and be able to make change correctly.

Education and Experience:

Must be working towards at least a high school diploma. Must be at least 16 to be employed.

Job Status:

This job is part time three to four days a week 10:30 to 6:30 from Memorial Day to Labor Day. If you are a student or teacher returning to school in late August or early September, you must still be able to work at least weekends through Labor Day.

Wages: 2025

$14.81 an hour starting wage

$15.31 an hour after one year of satisfactory work at the carousel

$15.81 an hour after two years of satisfactory work at the carousel

$16.31 an hour after three years of satisfactory work at the carousel

$16.81 an hour after four years of satisfactory work at the carousel

$17.31 an hour after five or more years of satisfactory work at the carousel
